    [Inactive] Email Hijacked

    OK,
Somehow I must have clicked on the wrong link. I see that emails sent from me to those in my address book with the phony link have been found. How can I find and get rid of the problem?

One of my AOL accounts...i know... i have Yahoo and Gmail too. Only one of the aol accts. I have changed the password and so far it seems to have ceased. I scanned with several antivirus pgms and found nothing and the computer seems ok and unaffected. where do I go from here? Using Win 8.1 Thanks

Yes, those web based accounts are usually hacked at server level and user's computer is unlikely to be involved.

    Broni,
I finally got in touch with their customer service tech. I don't use their software, I just log on to the email with Firefox. They told me that in order to fix the problem that I had to be a paying customer and pay $4.99 a month for the privelidge of someone in India to torture me, but if i paid for the deluxe tech help (around $24 / month) I could be led around by an American. They offer one month free and the option to cancel before the month was up. So I said OK. The tech said that they wanted to scan my computer for viruses etc an they wanted me to allow them to take control of the computer and the scans could take several hours. She said that they didn't need me to be at my computer and I could even go out shopping for a while.Yeah right...like I give them control to my computer while they use MacAfee and then look at all my files. Sorry but No Thanks...I figure its in their server too and not on my machine. Any further advice? Do you need to look at any logs?
    Mark

If your computer doesn't have any issues then no.

I highly doubt. Simple bot can't do things like that. Your computer would have to be seriously infected and it'd show from its behavior.
So if your computer acts normally I wouldn't worry about it.
