EMail Font "Coding" From a Mac/Thunderbird Combo

A friend is sending me emails from her Mac that uses the T'bird email client. Apostrophes (') come as (’), and quotation marks ( ") come as (“). How come? [I use XP/Eudora]

Try changing your font and see if it makes a difference.

 

Ramona...already tried that, doesn't work. In fact, sometimes I get an email from her that some of the apostrophes and quote marks are OK, and others (in the same email) are not.

 

Does your friend use HTML or plain text to compose messages? Ask her to try plain text and see if that has any effect.

I must assume that the Edura/XP is a v.7, or so. The new Eudora is no longer part of Qualcomm, and is being delivered as a program based on Thunderbird. It is now on v.8.0beta3. I works as well as Thunderbird, and, except for the Penelope add-on which imparts a different set of icons on the toolbar, it will be a cool program, if finalized.
