Since Hotmail changed to Outlook.com I have had a problem deleting contacts. For example, a person changed their email address and I edited it and saved it. Now, when I try to send an email to that person, both the old and new email addresses show up. If I delete that person's new email address and try to send an email to him, neither of the names appear. How can I delete the old name and address? Thanks.

Thanks for your response. I'm not sure if the Outlook that the sites are referring to are the same as mine. My Outlook.com just recently replaced Hotmail.com. I really need much help to do anything with the computer. Thanks.

When you register Admin asks you to show your System Specs, here is how to do that.

Did you browse through the links in my previous email and follow any of the directions offered.

If you have other issues with your system, ask the questions as there are many Technicians on this forum with expert knowledge who maybe able to reply to any you may ask.

    kind regards,

I have filled in as much info as I could about my laptop. I did browse through your suggested links, but the things that were mentioned I could not find or do...that's why I wondered if we are referring about the same Outlook.com. I have very basic computer knowledge and I'm afraid to do some of the things in case I mess up more. I had not intended to be rude and I'm aware that the people helping here are volunteers and I would be very grateful so any assistance that I get. Thanks

You were not rude at all- Yes we are talking about the same outlook which was/is your email program as I understand it.

Have you a friend or family member that can sit with you who could follow one of the links I gave you in my earlier post. This would also apply to getting your System Specs up on your profile just as mine are under "Profile" My System as in this pic I have attached.

    best regards,

I don't think so. You are talking about the Outlook email program, while I'm pretty sure Bigalx58 is talking about www.outlook.com

Microsoft has introduced quite a bit of confusion by renaming/re-branding their email service after their Microsoft Office Outlook software

    I have researched this a little - NB I do NOT use Outlook.com :)

It would seem that Outlook.com does not import contacts from Hotmail, but integrates them - very helpful MS - not !!

    From here
    .

So I guess you must delete the old email address from Hotmail although the thread I quoted from is far from conclusive.

    Arie is correct.
After reading PeteC's post, it would appear that I have no choice until Outlook.com makes some changes. But the strange thing is that the old email address does not appear in the 'People' list of Outlook.com...it only appears when you want to send a new email, then the old and new addresses appear and you have to choose the one you want.

It looks like my problem cannot be solved right now. I was in touch with a Microsoft techy and she duplicated my problem and both the new and old addresses showed up on her pc too !!!
