email contact list

I've searched and have not found this posted already...
When I am creating a new email in Outlook and click on the "to" button to access my address book, the names all come up first name first. last name last even though my contacts are set up the other way around. This is annoying to say the least and I haven't found how to fix it. What have I missed?

In outlook Express, I open up my address book and double click on the name bar at the top of the list, and it switches first and last names. Try it in Outlook and see if it does the same?

And change the "Show Names By" option from First Name to Last Name.
