My 87 year old m-i-l has taken up emailing in a big way which is great except that I'm th computer support person. She has a shaky right and and often drags the menu bar or tool bar off its proper place, loses it and can't use send/receive button. Is there any way to lock these in place?

Any other ideas (other than taking away her computer)?

I got my mom a trackball. The whole thing stays put, roll the ball for mouse movement, then click..

Well, oddly enough I've used a trackball myself for at least 15 years but I didn't think f one for her. I wonder whether she'd be able to accommodate to one. I'll certainly give it a go. Thanks.
