I am not very computer savvy so please bear with me.

I installed a 2nd hard drive last year. Never realized something was wrong with it until my primary drive tells me I have 0% free space left. Went to Disk Management - There are two listed. The first one is blank under volume-the layout is Partition, Type is Basic, File System is FAT, Status is Healthy(EISA Conf), Capacity is 31mb, Free space 24mb, % Free is 77%.

The second one says (D:) - Layout is Partition, Type is Basic, File System is NTFS, Status is Healthly(system), Capacity is 37.24 gb, Free space is 175 mb, % Free is 0%.

What should my next step be to fix this?

    Thanks for the help.

    Welcome to WindowsBBS :)

The EISA partition (31Mb) is a special configuration which contains utilities or recovery data pertinent to your computer which is clearly an OEM - e.g. for Dell it is a partition that contain utilities that can be accessed from the BIOS or by a special boot choice during startup

    Leave it well alone :)

What puzzles me is that you refer to your primary (system) drive as D:\ whereas it should be C:\

You should also see your second hard drive in Disk Management along with any optical drives of course.

Does your second hard drive show up in Windows Explorer?

I get the feeling that when you installed your second hard drive it was not recognised by the computer and you have in fact never used it.

We need some more background information to go further with this.

Thanks for the welcome and reply. I think I am just going to take my computer into the shop. I don't think I am qualified to go any further.
I do think you are right about it never recognizing the hard drive.

OK - best not to 'fiddle' if you do not feel confident to do so :)
