I want to remove the word "cant" from the MS Word dictionary so that if I type cant instead of can't, it will not be accepted. How do I edit that dictionary?

I know of no way of editing the Word dictionary - the Custom Dictionary - yes.

Have you tried to set up autocorrect so that it automatically replaces 'cant' with 'can't'? Might not be possible as 'cant' is in the Word dictionary.

You could always disable automatic spell checking, but not a viable solution I guess.

well yes you can do an auto correct. But cant is also a regular English word meaning jargon or argot or a special sort of slang.

I know about 'cant' being a word. I want to configure the dictionary to prevent it from accepting 'cant' regardless by removing it from the dictionary that is used.

I think PeteC's suggestion of adding cant/can't to the auto correct list is the way to go. It will be impossible to type "cant" after that because every time you do, Word will automatically change it to "can't" as soon as you hit the next key.
