I have uninstalled a program called Photoimpact (Graphics Program) but when I right click on a jpg file it still shows "Edit With Photoimpact" I remember in XP I could remove the shell command in the registry (forgotton how I did it) but is this possible in Vista?

    Hello Paul,

You can try re associating .jpg's.

Change the Control Panel view to Classic if it isn't already.

Go into Control Panel > Default programs > Set Associations.

You'll see the file extensions and their current program. To change the program, highlight the line and click on the Change Program bar.

I do not have an issue with file associations as these are happily associated with Photoshop, what I am looking to do is remove the words "Edit with Photoimpact" from the content menu when I right click on a jpg/jpeg file.

You are quite correct it is easy in XP all you have to do is the following:

    1. Click Start
    2. Click Run
    3. Type in regedit and click ENTER
    4. Browse to the following:
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers

But after searching registry found this entry and it worked after deletion of keys (exported first just in case):

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\SystemFileAssociations\image\shell\edit.PhotoImpact]
    @= "Edit with PhotoImpact "

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\SystemFileAssociations\image\shell\edit.PhotoImpact\command]
    @= "\ "C:\\Program Files\\Ulead Systems\\Ulead PhotoImpact 12\\Iedit_.exe\" \ "%1\" "

    It is no more......
