I recently upgraded my PC from Windows 98SE and was using Netscape 7.1 for my browser and e-mail with no difficulties.

I now have Windows XP and downloaded Netscape 7.2 but I am having problems receiving notification of eBay Favourite Searches.

I had signed up for email notifcation of new items listed in certain catagories and when these emails arrived it would have a message body that basically looked liked a shortend version of an ebay page of items with desciptions and pictures and if you wanted to look at any of the items all you have to do is click on one and it would take you to that item in ebay.

The message now appears blank (other than the message that it had been checked by AVG and no virus had been found).

Strangely "eBay watched item ending soon" messages appear correctly with all the graphics and links.

I believe other eBay members have had similar problems but have had no help from eBay.

Could this the same problem that some Netscape users have with some messages sent from Outlook Express and is there a fix?

What problem from OE users? I use Netscape, or related programs, exclusively, and most people who correspond with me use OE.
As for the shorthand version, the most likely cause is if you set a limit to Disk Space for the account. Look under your Maill settings. If I check that box, I will get 50Kb or less, and you will have to download

    Welcome to the Forum, dandl!

    dandl,

I did find 185 eBay bugs among which, this one stands out as similar to what you are experiencing: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=184869#c11

In looking over the recommended link, it appears that AVG that is the problem with the eBay email. It adds a MIME envelope in addition to the MIME envelope already in use by eBay, which causes a conflict.

Here are a couple of suggested workarounds:

Try turning this off or on: View | Display Attachments Inline

    AND

Turn off the 'certify' message by:
    1) Opening AVG control center

    2) Select 'E-mail Scanner' in the right-hand pane and clicking on the properties button that appears in the bottom right of the control centre.

    3) This opens the Email Scanner properties dialog. Click on the configure button.

    4) This opens the Email Scanner configuration dialog where, in the E-mail scanning' section, deselect the 'Certify mail' checkboxes for both incoming and outgoing mail (for good measure).

    HTH,

    Ramona

    Problem Solved!

    Ramona,

Many thanks for providing that solution. It didn't seem to matter whether I turned "View | Display Attachments Inline" on or off but removing the "certify" message from the AVG e-mail scanner configuration cured the problem.

    I am very grateful
