I'm not sure which sub-forum this belongs in, so be patient.

My wife wiped out her Win XP netbook a while ago and has since been gifted with an iPad. I'm still running XP, and will continue to do so once I get a Win 7laptop and disconnect my XP machine from the internet.

The irritant I'm trying to solve is how, when she accesses our family e-mail on Comcast, using the iPad and has opened, read and even deleted e-mails, they're still on my desktop as "unopened ", in the same mail-box.

It's a PITA to keep asking "have you read this one?" before I delete it. How does one interconnect the "I have opened this e-mail" between an XP machine and an iPad?

I've asked Comcast, but they haven't replied. Any ideas?

Is it something to do with Wireless and Landline connection?
You show DSL and Router in your System Details but the iPad would be Wireless?
I use gmail and we have a mix of cable from the wife's PC to the NetComm ADSL2 Router/Modem and mine is wireless.
I can Delete mail from the Inbox from either setup, but gmail will Archive if I want to retain it. Neil.

With your XP, are you downloading the e-mail in OE or some other mail program. Sounds like you are and you have a check in the box to leave a copy on the server.
In OE go to Tools/Accounts and open your account and if I remember right, it is the next to last tab or the last one, take the check out of leave message on the server.

    Bill:

I get my e-mails through "web.mail.comcast.net/zimbra/mail? ". My old XP box is ethernet connected to the modem. DW's iPad is wireless. We have a Comcast "Telephony Gateway" combination wi-fi router and modem which also handles the land-line phone.

What I'd like to be able to get to is a link so that, when my wife has read an e-mail on her iPad, the display on my computer will switch from "unread" (bold type) to "read" (regular type).

From what I can figure out, if I delete it before she's read it, it won't be accessible to the iPad. If I knew she'd read it, I could clean up my inbox.
