Oops! We did focus on the attachment issue, and the time out issue fell thru the cracks.

Are you saying that when you try to "Send" a message there is a "Server timed out" message? That the HTML content is reverted to text is also very odd.

When you are composing offline, could you be more explicit about "the same time interval is exceeded "? There should be NO time limit when composing, and I'm not really clear on this issue. Thanks!

Try creating a new Profile for SeaMonkey. Don't copy anything from the old Profile, this will be for test purposes. Create a Mail Account in the new Profile, then see if you continue to have the attachment, and time out problems.

    Problem with attachments...

Thanks Ramona, for picking up the thread again.

In respect of the first item I can give an example. I have material on two "template" pages that I can use as a "signature" (my term). One has some coloured text with phone #s etc and hyperlinked address text to my email address and to my website. On the other one I have an image with a hyperlink to my website. (I'm not sure I am using the right terms, but you probably get what I am saying.) If I bring up one of these template pages and start drafting a message there is a point in time (which I haven't measured) at which the attachment links are "lost" and the email can't be sent. A message comes up of an "attaching failure ". My IMPRESSION is that the html content is lost.

Sometimes I compose lengthy emails off line. I can't be sure that the time frame is the same as I haven't measured it, but SeaMonkey regularly prompts to go online, disrupting what I am doing. It is not a major problem in itself, but I thought it might be part of the overall picture.

I will go through the process in your last paragraph when I come free from my next appointment.

    Regards, Bruce

    Problem with attachments...

    Ramona,

I went through that exercise. It didn't make any difference. I probably went through a similar process when I rebooted the machine.

I checked on my firewall. AVG is on and Windows is not. Starting windows Firewall as well didn't cure the problem. The AVG log shows svchost.exe as Blocked and shows little else. I checked "drwatson" and it shows a fault in WINWORD.EXE on two days in the past month. It also shows a fault in Toshiba's biometric access program on two days. I am not sure if this uninvited comment has any relevance or if it is just a distraction. I just tried those two to see if I had a 'known" problem since the re-boot. The first WINWORD event was immediately after the re-boot on 24/8, the second on 6/9. The two Toshiba ones are from the past week.

    Regards, Bruce Mitchell
