Was downloading the free demo of FSX when blue screen appeared saying windows had shutdown to protect my computer.

It would not turn off, so I pulled the battery (Dell 9200) and the power cord.

Now computer will not start at all. Lights blink and hard drive light glows steady for a few seconds, and then nothing but black screen.

Anyone have a fix for me to get it running again? What the heck happened?

    Thanks,

    Paul

I would open the case and disconnect the cables to the harddrive. See if you get the startup screen then.

It may be one of the other pieces of hardware that is the problem, although by the "steady glow" I would think that it was the harddrive.

Check all the fans are spinning freely, including the power supply fan.

Thanks for your help! I'm using this old Compaq for now and am considering a new Dell.
