    Hi All

Does any else have this log, located at
    "C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\dw.log "
This is a windows ME PC with IE6 /sp1
appears to be a cut down version of the ie error report
it gets written to whenever there is an ie error report sent or not.
Though I dont know it its and extra setting ive done with wmi control or doctor watson.

I think it's being generated as a result of having the MS notification module installed. (add/remove)

So if you aren't sending them, (is Me still being supported???), then remove that app and the log won't be maintained any more.

Lonny, I have the same file in my C:\Windows\Application Data directory. (Win98SE & IE 5.5) I think WhitPhil is right and it is the log file for that annoying box that pops up where IE hiccups and give you a choice to "Close" or "Send Report" to M$ so they have something else to ignore.

I also don't see anywhere to delete the app. that generates this box.

    C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\Dw15.Exe
However, if you delete the file, if and when IE crashes, you will have an error come up.

Thanks for that info markp62. I think I will leave well enough alone as my IE infrequently crashes to where the MS App. Error Reporting box comes up. Usually occurs when a web page tries to download something IE doesn't like, for example a Flash ad or some sort of Active X application within a web page that perhaps is not written properly????

    Thanks all
Yep someday I will x that little bugger.
the whole reason for question ,which I should have mentioned already. is to better help others.
If I can just suggest to them look for this file, rather then the two three click here to get more info,, then dont tell us all ,,limit it to just the dlll's or exe's that coused the error da da da Bla bla

So how many of you out there have this log file ?

Ive asked one another person who has win ME/IE6 and they dont have it so tis confusing.(and they hadnt disabled error reporting,)

    Thanks again
    Lonny

Error Reporting came as a product update so if you chose not to install, it wouldn't be there.

It is "supposed" to be in Add/remove as Internet Error Reporting, and that is where I uninstalled it on my box. (Win98FE / IE5.02)

I am curious about having both DrWatson and dw.log. The former gives error info including some idea when the problem occurred. Unfortunately (perhaps) it holds just so many reports and then drops the earliest remaining. dw.log seems to keep the error info indefinitely but supplies no date info. In dw.log I seem to have error reports from over four years ago, judging by the version of IE involved.
I also feel dw.log reports only errors involving IE, whereas DrWatson reports on all errors leading to a shutdown or freeze.

Hi Welshjim and everyone else to

Yes it doesn't have the dates appended But we can add it
I believe the last on the list is the most recent anyway.

    for others watching this thread
Its common to get these errors ,IE error reporting errors.
so don't worry about them unless they happen often, if they do try to get it to repeat ,if you can that will help figure out whats going on.
Its been my experience most of these errors and faults are because of spyware/mailware etc etc. Not IE problems.

    ,here's my exe's and dll's
Application Failure iexplore.exe in mshtml.dll <---lots of those
Application Failure iexplore.exe in unknown <----couple of these
    Application Failure iexplore.exe in shlwapi.dll <--one
the last one would normaly concern me , but thats when I was using "V3ieupdate" the experimentel one for developers
    V4 is out to.

I have a feeling when MS does impliment this , my popup blocker isnt going to work properly..
here for instance with it on the page keep's refreshing untill its turned off. ding ding ding ,,and sometimes IE freezes..

    Hi Lonny,

I have this file as well, not large at all - WinME using IE6.0. The entries are about IE6.0 errors. Very rare for the MS error report dialog box to pop up

I also have IE6.0 freezes, but only in this site though. This freeze also happened using WinME and IE5.5 sp2. Never happens using XP.

    PS: Congratulations!

    Regards - Charles

    Hi Lonny,

Both of my PC's are running IE v5.50.4134.0600

The PC with Win98SE (P-4 2.4 Ghz, 512MB DDR RAM, FSB-533 Mhz) doesn't have the log.

The PC with WinME (P-3 800Mhz, 256Mhz SDRAM FSB-133Mhz), does have the log, with only 3 errors showing.

    Hope this helps
