    I have a 37inch LCD TV with 2 HDMI slots and I would like to hook my pc up to one of the HDMI slots (currently I use the VGA slot). I have read that there are DVI to HDMI cables available and I was wondering if anyone would know if this can up scale my pc to high def quality, as I have backed up most of my dvd collection and stored them on an external hard drive to condense space.

    They are mainly in AVI, OGM & MKV format, and I currently watch them using GOM Player. Does anyone know if it would up scale these as well???

    Any help would be much appreciated.

    The cable isn't going to help unless your video card is HD capable.

    TV-Out-> HDTV / S-Video Out

    I have only done some basic research.

    Unless you have a HDMI output the television will only use the connected (DVI or VGA) input.

    [HDMI can handle both high definition graphics and audio, DVI and VGA are graphics standards.]

    The quality of playing the files will depend on the way the recordings were made. The table here may give you some leads:

    If you have used default settings in your recorder, check if they are at a HD level.
