I encountered the following error message using DVDShrink

"DVDShrink encountered an error and cannot continue
    Failed to write
    VTS.01_4.vob
    Access is denied "

I tried two different ways of copying the DVD.
    1. Using DVDShring after making files using DVDDecrypter
    2. Using DVDShrink and directing it to the DVD directly

Both ways resulted in the same error message.
What is the nature of the error and how does one get around it?

    Have limited use with DVDShrink...
Have always copied output to a HD folder, has always work with no problems.

Are you creating a new folder for each DVD backup and pointing DVDShrink output to new folder?

    Access is denied
Do user settings grant you "write privileges" to your chosen output folder? Possible the output folder you have chosen has "read only" attributes.

I've just downloaded the latest version of DVD Shrink v3.2 but haven't used it as yet. My previous experience with DVD copying is that you should use a tissue with warm water and mild soap to clean away any finger prints and other crud on the disk surface. A moderately (and lightly) scratched DVD may cause problems as well.

I'd say try to clean it, otherwise get another disc. All my ripping problems with Shrink were dirty or damaged discs. The only advantage I see to using DVD decryptor is the ability to skip a bad spot on a disc, but of course it will now be missing on your burned disc and appear as a skip.

Lots of good stuff there, look at "DVD ripping" for similar questions/answers.
