dvd will not work after removing vista and installing xp home

Thanks in advance for any help, I reformatted hard drive and reinstalled xp home, repaired all the problems this caused, lol,everything working ok, but now my DVD player will not work, message says a problem with digital copy protection betweenyour dvd drive, decoder, and video card. Try installing updatted driver for video card. Installed driver and still no dvd. I have a Presario c555nr that had vista.

What kind of files are they? I'm guessing they are .wma files or some other type of files that are protected by DRM (Digital Rights Management). If so, you problem is due to the fact that you now have a new OS installed. The files are protected to run on your computer but that was with Vista installed. You now have XP and my guess is that DRM is seeing it as a new computer so the files won't play. I'm not sure what the answer is for you. I know there's tools available that will take care of the problem but I can't help you with that here. Search a bit and you might find something. Otherwise, you might try contacting whoever it is you downloaded the files from and see what they have to say. They might have a way.

 

A simple solution might be to install Vista Codec Package. This is great codec installer to overcome most audio/Video issues. v5.05 is the latest, and is for XP and Vista. I highly recommend it, and you don't have the confusing install options of some other codec packages. Only one must do if you run Real Player on your system.
