Hi and welcome to the BBS,

I was going to suggest that you look for an update for the IDE controller drivers, which are part of the chipset/motherboard drivers. Now, considering it sees the drive as a memory card, I would suggest uninstalling any software that would be looking for memory cards, mainly I suppose, photographic software/editors. After uninstalling those programs, if the drive showed up correctly, try reinstalling the program/s again.

So, I suppose what I would try is uninstalling any programs that look for memory cards, no luck, update the chipset drivers. After that it may be a problem with the burning software where you may have to reset the upper and lower filters in the registry or reinstall the ASPI layer drivers (Sound like gobbledy-gook? You're right, but we could work through that if necessary).

You don't say, does the drive work...play disks, can you see any files on disks? Does the drive spin up when you put a disk in it and does the LED flash? Try booting to a boot CD like the Windows CD.

    Matt
