I am getting a new computer soon it comes with a DVD writer but only in the +R format but it also comes with a DVD Rom drive.

I would like to swap out the DVD+R with DVD-R (or multi format) drive, am I correct in thinking it would make sense to remove the DVD Rom drive and replace this with the DVD-R (or multi format) as I can still view DVD movies on a writeable drive, am I correct?

So I would end up with:

    1. DVD-R (or multi format)
    2. DVD+R (as existed)

The reason I wish to do this is because my DVD player (non-computer) does not support +R and the Sony PS2 will only play -R discs.

    That's old tech.

newer dvd writers handle both formats. You're getting old technology. Check the catologs.

You also don't need 2 dvd drives, the rw has all the functions of the rom.
