Hey, I just bought a pile of BENQ DVD+R's as a promotion and the ad said they where 4X but the box and the DVD's themselves clearly say 8X. However, Nero detects them as being 4X. I mean it's not like I got ripped off, I was expecting them to be 4X anyway but is there a way or a software I could use to burn faster then what the tested speed is? My DVD burner is an 8X burner and I would like to use it to it's full potential.

scouture - Welcome to the Board :)

The straightforward answer is NO. All CD-R's and DVD-R's and their derivatives have a code burnt into the disk to tell the burner which speed they are. Higher speed disks have a different coating. Locks like they were mislabelled - hence the promo??
