    Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone can help with a small problem I have with Windows XP. I was running Win98SE for quite a while. I just recently decided to go for XP and went down to my local computer shop and purchased Win XP Home Upgrade, I checked that my system would work and purchased it. I got it home and look at the options and decided to go with the clean install so deleted Win98 and installed XP. Everything has worked well and it has installed perfectly. It has detected all drives and seems to work well and fast. I have come across two problems described below.

    DVD-Player.
It is installed ok and it is in the control panel and says it is working correctly, I have checked and there is no XP drivers for it but as it says it works ok dont see why I would need these. I can play music cd's no problem and also I tried the free magazines with WIN XP Magazine and they both seem to work ok, So I know it works but when I go to start a program from disc it comes up with diffrent errors all the time.
Say I want to install Monopoly Tycoon I place it in the drive and it comes up with
    messages like these.

    Setup.exe Entry point not found.
Setup.exe Application failed to start because .dll was not found try to reinstall the application may fix this problem.
It doesnt tell me which dll is missing and since I have not installed it yet how can it say reinstall it ?
The other one is it keeps wanting to send a message to IE with a problem with IE5.5
Now I thought that WinXP used IE6, So why is it saying 5.5.

I have a disk that I need to install to make my internet keyboard work and it says it is for all OS's and says on it XP but this comes up with problems as well. It seems all my disks old or new come up with problems, yet I can click on explore and see all the contents of a disc I have even tried the compatability wizard and still no help same problem, AOL say's version7 works with XP but when I put the disk in it comes up with the same problems yet I can explore the disk I find drivers for 9X and 2000 but no XP so how do you get AOL started from this disk ?

The second problem is linked to the first. I know that my Diamond Supramax 56K USB doesnt work with XP without adjusting the settings and then it will only run at 33 not 56 and they are not releasing any drivers. I have got it working and it calls out but because I use AOL I need to install the disks that came with it so I cannot log online and ask questions, so I have had to come back to 98SE to get help.

O I place my name in the box so that i am the only user so making me the admin, and not stopping me from using programs.

Any help is much appreciated in any of these problems.

In order to play DVD's in XP, you will need a codec installed into media player. These codec's generally come from your DVDROM manufacturer or OEM vendor.
When I upgrade to XP on my system, I installed a copy of windvd, and it provided me an upgrade to the XP version. Since then I've had no problems playing DVD's on XP.
