   My DELL 8W007-A01 cd dvd combo won't burn dvd. used to but not after winxp reinstall. error message says there is no disk in drive or functioality not accessible when virgin disc is in fact inserted. same problem with 7W036-A01

   Have you reinstalled the burning software following your reinstall of XP? Windows XP's native burning software does not support DVD burning.
   
   Can you burn CD's?

   Could it be a problem with the media (disks). Try a different brand.
