I was backing up some camera photos to DVD last night & ever since all folders & icons that I open from DVD / CD have changed to a bright blue icon with Ka on.

Older discs that were previously OK now have this same problem (even music CD'S).

Have tried everything I know to remedy this - to no avail, including virus scan (clean), system restore & have searched widely.

Can anyone please assist with this.

Which burning software are you using? Sounds like the files have been associated with the burning software. Nero, for example is far more than just a burner these days - it plays music. movie files, even edits pictures I believe.

Go into Windows Explorer > Tools > Folder Options > File Types and scroll down to jpeg, for example. Which program are they associated with?

    Thanks for the help

Tried everything to no avail - Then this morning they all mysteriously returned to normal.

The strange thing is that I have never seen that particular icon before & why it only affected folders & files on DVD / CD - every single folder & file the same????

    Really strange.

Anyway all seems to be well now?

All come up with their correct icon - except on DVD / CD

Got me stumped - never seen anything like it.

I could understand the file associations, but why folders as well?
