Duplicated messages in Netscape 7.2

Hi guys,

I have a user working with Netscape 7.2, Imap account, and with the offline feature activated, the problem is that from time to time when he runs the program it becomes to duplicate lots of messages already received. For instance, he arrives to his office this monday and Netscape downloaded about 1200 "new" messages, which ones aren't really new.

I'll really apreciate any help!!

 

Have no experience using offline features or Netscape 7.2. Since this is a Imap account, all emails are stored on remote server, local mail client is displaying information. Just shooting from the hip ... what happens if user is "deleting mail" while in "offline" mode then closes mail client. Does mail client send 'delete request" when user signs in to Imap account ... or would it resend the mail that was never deleted off the Imap server? Somewhere in the sequence, email is NOT being deleted off of the Imap email server.

 

I did the test and when open Netscape again, the message just wasn't there, suposse that your first choice is the right one.

Just to clarify my suggestion and your solution when using Imap mail account.
If deleting email with Netscape 7.2 email client when in "offline mode ".
Delete requests Will NOT update remote Imap email server when .....
A.) User goes back "online ".
B.) User does NOT go "online" and closes email client.
C.) Both of the above.

http://home.att.net/~cherokee67/ns7profloc.html Depending on your OS, you should have IMAP and MAIL folders. I would delete the .msf files, with Netscape closed. Those are the header files, and I have seen duplication, or worse in News. One test, if the problem reoccurs is to double click on the message more than once. I could double the count every time I double clicked.
This is another possibility, although I never saw it in my IMAP mail.
