so i bought a new hard drive and installed windows x64 pro on it and i was hoping it was going to dual boot with my existing hard drive which has regular xp pro on it but it doesn't want to go past POST screen..and i cant even enter to the BIOS. the jumper settings are..x64 hard drive=master and the old hard drive=slave..i also tried cabal select for both drives and it still gets stuck..

ive dual booted windows xp pro before just fine and i cant figure out why its not doing it :/ maybe i cant have both?

The general rule for dual booting is to install the oldest OS first. Changing the old drive to slave probably messed things up.

Mike - Welcome to the Board :)

You most certainly can have both if not more - I have run systems in the past with quad boot to XP Pro, XP x64, W98 and Vista.

Point is - how did you set this up?

XP Pro drive as master - new hard drive as slave, or both CS I guess. Boot from the x 64 CD and follow the onscreen prompts to install x 64 on the new drive. A boot menu will be created automatically. You must have both drives connected when you install x 64.
