I have a laptop which was setup for dual boot. On start-up, it would give you the option of booting up in DOS ( as we have some radio service software that runs in DOS ) , or booting up in Windows 98. Anyway, I upgraded WIN 98 up to XP, and now on start up, we have lost the option of booting up in DOS or Windows, it just goes straight to XP. How can I get it back to the dual boot option. Many thanks.

You were probably using a third party boot manager and need to do that again;)

Steve is probably right if it was a dual boot with DOS.

Windows XP's boot selection (as opposed to a third-party's boot manager) is in Control Panel -> System -> Startup and Recovery tab -> System Startup. There is a drop-down box with the boot options if Windows has set another system as available. Don't edit the startup options unless you are sure of how to do it, Windows might not start at all.

You can check if the DOS system might be listed there.

    Steve and mattman,
Thanks for your input guys, I took the cheats way out and un-installed XP. I only installed it because I wanted to use HyperTerminal. We only use windows with one windows based radio service software, and we needed HyperTerminal as we have to reprograme a Mux. So I copied HyperTerminal, un-installed XP and put HyperTerminal on the desktop of 98. We also now have the dual boot option back. So problem solved.

    Have a Merry Xmas.
