Hi All, i have a question, is there anyway i can disable the dual boot timer (the one where it counts down before it chooses the first OS). i tried 00, but that gives me only 99 seconds. i would like to disable it all together.

    thanks
    Brad

By what method did you set the Timeout Time? Open your boot.ini file (on root of drive) and see what number is listed following Timeout=

You may have to change how you view files since this is normally a hidden file.

Let me know what it says.

I'm just guessing that you may have used some tool to set the time and you may have actually set 100 instead of 00, not seeing the other digit due to limitations of the screen field size. Possible?

EDIT: Nevermind, I think I misunderstood your intent. I realize now that you want the time to be infinite not zero. Now that will take more head scratching. ;)

    Update:

I just edited my boot.ini file to Timeout=300 and it worked just fine. Presumably you can't have infinity but you can certainly make it high enough for any practical purpose.

Try something like Timeout=86400 and you can take all day. :)

    BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE! :D :D

And now the real answer. The maximum time using positive integers turns out to be 999. To get an infinite amount of time use timeout=-1

NOTE: If you don't have a multiple boot selection, it doesn't matter what number you use for the Timeout, it gets ignored completely and XP boots right on up without a pause.

    Does that satisfy your needs?
