One of our forum members has upgraded his OS to Windows 7, but now has to OS THE SAME ( ie; Windows 7) I am not able to get to his PC, he lives too far away.
How can I advise to uninstall one of the OS. is it possible without doing a complete reinstall ? and what did he do wrong ?
( This is becoming a habit in our forum, perhaps I am missing something in the instruction as Administrator ?.)

Update, the owner has contacted me by telephone and this is his latest situation re Duel Boot.
His friend tried to upgrade his Laptop from Vista to Windows 7, in the process he created a dual boot, initialy Vista/ Windows 7 , they re-installed Windows 7 and now have a dual boot Windows 7 /Windows 7.
On the second attempt they chose the Custom option of setup which supposed to uninstall previous files ?.
    He has formatted Recover 'D':
    his disk info now is ;
    Disk o Partition 1 196MB .. 188 MB OEM Reserved.
    Disk o Partition 2 Recovery 10.0GB 9.00 Gb
Disk o partition 3 OS 61.8 GB 42.9 GB System
Disk o partition 4 Media direct 2.5 GB 1.8 GB Logical
They installed Windows 7 on Partition 3 (System)
How can they uninstal the second boot of Windows 7 ?

Got to agree here. Best thing to do. Then you know that everything is right.

I agree. See if there's any (user) data that need to be saved, then do a format & clean install (deleting all partitions).

Make sure that they have a recovery disk for the original OS.

Thanks all, the owner has decided to bring his laptop to me, I can then see what 'stuff ' he has on it, and do as suggested, save what's needed and dump the rest.
Why does this laptop, originally 'Vista' basic, have such a complicated drive system, could it/would it be on two disks ?

Because somebody didn't know what they were doing and added partitions. Bet the when it was new it had 2 partitions. C which was the main partition and D which was the recovery partition.

Result, carried out format and clean install as per suggested by ARIE, system working like a F1 car without the noise, told owner to join Windows BBS, but he prefers for someone to do the thinking for him,
I wonder if the fact that he has 9 cats at home ( not a cattery) has anything to do with him messing his PC up.
Thanks everyone, we have a satisfied member thanks.
    Will mark this resolved.
