    hello all

i am trying to set up this dsl(ethernet) modem. Now i have done all the connections and all the sync lights are coming on. But i cant access nor ping any sites. Neither can i get the IP address of the computer. also the lan connection on the task bar is not showing up. i was wondering if this is a network card problem? This is the first time that the network card is being used. But i am a bit skeptical about the network card idea since all the sync lights are showing up on the modem

any ideas as to what is the problem here

If you are connecting directly from the modem to your PC, you may need a cross-over network cable rather than a normal straight through.

Have a look at this thread where this is some discussion on the difference between a cross over cable and a straight through cable.
