    I am running Window's XP Sp1. 512MB Ram. I originally signed up
for DSL sevice back in February. I orginaly had dial-up and up-graded to DSL with SBC. I was provided with a Ethernet card a "Realtek Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC" and a modem. At that
time when I started the computer and when it got to the desk top the Connection Mgr would appear .

It would take about 1-2 minutes before I was connected to the
Internet. It would go thru it's diagonstic's checking off computer,
SBC Network and than the Internet and I would be connected.

I just recently purchased a Lap Top for my daughter and figured it
would be a good idea to network the two computer's.

I purchased a Linksys "Wireless G Broadband Router 4 port switch
& Wireless G PCI adapter and Wireless G Notebook adapter.

The hardware is running fine just a minor anomoly has shown up.
When the computer reaches the desk top, the Connection Mgr
would start it would go thru it's diagonostic's that I listed above
but this time I would be connected to the Internet in about 30-35
    second's instead of 2minutes.

Which to me is just fine. but when it does it push's the item's
in my task bar to load late (ZoneAlarm and Virus Scanner) if you
want to access any program in that period you have to wait because it will not appear until everything is loaded. Even the
default window's sound comes on after two minutes.

I have gone into msconfig and unchecked the connection manager
the time remained the same plus I would alway's get the message regarding the select start-up even after I checked it off
    not to show it.

Any suggestion's how I could get everything to Load First and the
    Connection Mgr Last

If you have a router, you should be able to enter your username/password info etc for yor SBC DSL connection into the router.

Do it that way and the router will handle the logging on to the SBC DSL connection. Then you should be able to remove the connection manger from your other machines.

Check out this link:-> Linksys router set up for SBC DSL

    Cheers,
