    Hey everyone,

I just received my Intel SSD, and I'm psyched! I put it in my Ultrabay drive bay, and the BIOS, Vista Device Manager, etc. all "see" the drive. However, I am lacking the driver for it.

I did a scan with "Driver Agent" and it immediately found it as well. However, it said the following driver was missing, and which I apparently need to operate the drive properly:

    IDE/ATA Controllers
    ----Intel(R) 82801G (ICH7 Family) Ultra ATA Storage Controllers -27DF

Can someone please let me know as to where I can obtain the driver?? And I would need the 64-bit version...:--(

    Thanks everyone!

Did you go into Diskmgmt and partition/format it just like you would for any brand new drive;)

Why you need a driver if you say that Windows is recognizing the drive?

Arie, Steve, mflynn...I apologize...DUH me! I just wanted this **** thing to work RIGHT when I got it, and overlooked the most basic of basic things to do, as you all said, which is of course format the **** thing.

Thanks guys. I did some test writes to it, and all looks well with this new powerhouse.

Now comes the re-installation of Windows Vista, all the apps...and boy, am I looking forward to that. I'll time everything, so I can post my first weekly update. 30 days...starting right now! :D

I'm not leaving the house today! haha

    Great keep us posted!

I think it is the way to go for speed (I think they will get much faster), durability, quiteness and likely in mass lower price etc.

And what happens when they are RAIDED?!

You have likely seen this Video but perhaps others may find it interesting.

Interesting results. The VelociRaptor impressed me! And what about that 2003 era Maxtor!

    ARGHHH...ok, I'm overlooking something else...

I successfully installed VUx64 on the SSD, but I had set my 2nd hard drive as the drive to boot from. Once I changed it to boot from the SSD instead, it wouldn't budge, as the MBR is on the 2nd drive, am I reading that right?????????

Now, I do NOT have a DVDRW lying around where I could boot from, but I do have a SanDisk Cruver FlashDrive 8GB.

Can I just set the MBR to HDD0 (1st drive, the SSD), and then install it from the flash drive?? Would copying the boot files direct to the SSD work? I doubt that it would work.

Can I copy the boot files at a later point? Please help! I want to do this already. Arghh...

And how do I make my SSD bootable again??

    Thanks everyone! :(

    Yes, VU=Vista Ultimate; x64=64-bit.

Listen, please follow the link below, and help me with this installation BS. I forgot my DVDRW in Germany, and now I can't do what I need to do, which is get the SSD tested.

I know this is probably a simple thing I'm overlooking, but I need to know what that is.

    Thanks everyone. :(
