What else is posted on the bsod apart from 'Driver IRQL not less or equal'

    Stop 0x00.........??

    Is a driver identified??

    See this

Take a look in Event Viewer > Application Error Records, System Application Records and post anything of relevance to this problem here. (Double click error message and hit the icon below the up/down arrows to copy to clipboard)

These error messages can be very difficult to resolve - you almost certainly have a driver problem and it would seem that it is related to Nero.

    1. Have you been able to back up to DVD at all without a bsod?

If so have you upgraded Nero since then? If you have I suggest you revert to the version of Nero which worked.

    2. Have you turned off XP's built in CD burning software? Right click on the drive in MY Computer > properties > recording.

    3. Can you burn a CD on this drive without a problem.

    4. Have you looked in Event Viewer - immediately after the bsod to see if any Application/System errors are listed?

    5. Have you contacted Ahead support with this problem in Nero? - Searched the Pioneer Web site - Google??

the stop error is this 0x000000d1 which is a write error, this happens with any dvd burning program not just nero as I thought. The xp recording feature is off. any other help would be appreciated. thank you.

Make a Google search for '0x000000d1' (no quotes) - several hits which may be relevant.

It is time to uninstall Nero, get the latest version and reinstall! I believe they had a recent update.

When you uninstall I would do it in safe mode and run RegCleaner and RegScrub to clean the registry of the things left over that the uninstall leaves. Then boot back to full mode and reinstall.

Here are the tools to do so. Download and install before you go to safe mode. Then uninstall Nero and run all 3 below "IN SAFE MODE "!!!

    Registry and System cleaners

    RegCleaner <http://www.vtoy.fi/jv16/shtml/regcleaner.shtml>
Look in first 2 cols for programs you thought you uninstalled or removed, these are the dregs left by the uninstaller. Also tag and remove any that you are POSITIVE are not supposed to be on your computer. After removing these go to the top Tools-Registry Cleanup-Do them all. Delete all it finds.

    NOTE: W2K and XP only
Select RegScrub finds problems and remove all it finds.
