I want to AUTO drive map when I connect to a terminal server. The resource kit has a drive mapping tool, but it uses netbios and I am using tcp/ip. I even installed netbios on both the client and server and enabled netbios over tcp/ip on both as well and it still didn't work. Netbios will go over routers when it is enabled right? I also installed the tool EXACTLY as the resource kit told me so and made sure the registry setting were the same as in an example I found on the microsoft website. I have always used terminal server, but have been intergrated into administrating them for the first time. They are fustrating. The client is w2k pro. If a firewall has disabled netbios traffic will it still go through if it is enabled over tcp/ip? I also posted this question in a newsgroup and some guy said to use Windows .NET Beta 3. I know what .NET is, but what is the BETA 3 part? Is it free? Whats the link? Thanks in advanced!

It's on the third beta so it hasn't been released yet but is available for MSDN subscribers .

Can you clarify your scenario. Does the Terminal Server sit in the DMZ?

A secure firewall will usually block the NetBT ports to prevent file sharing, etc. but you could use a VPN/IPSec tunnel or ssh.

    Hi,

I think a better choise would be to use WtsFtp.
You can find it at: http://www.ibexsoftware.com

This software lets you see both the server and client
drives and transfer files between them.
It removes the need for using RDClip or DriveShare
You don't need to open additional ports, it works with TS.
It also works with a web client.

    Hope this helps

By itself NetBIOS will not cross routers. If you have a WINS server, it will take care of doing it though. On a system using DNS only (no WINS) it will not.

Take a look at This thread from the networking section for more detail. The content or some of the links there might give you more ideas.
