So I just had to buy a new desktop computer due to my old one having a black screen and not loading up. Well this new one the drive D is showing 16.0 of 18.4 being used up. My old desktop I do not recall it being that full. So not sure if this is something I should be worried about or not. Any thoughts on this? I am not not sure which forum I should have posted this so if it is in the wrong place sorry.

Hi jennmay. If its a new computer then chances are its a recovery partition which is labeled as Drive D. The Operating System should be installed on Drive C so if you open File Explorer and have a second drive labeled Drive D then its going to be a recovery partition that will allow you to restore your computer back to factory condition if you need to.

If you want to reclaim that disk space then you can open up disk management and remove the D drive partition and then extend your C drive partition so that you use the rest of the unallocated space that was previously being used by your D drive recovery partition.

Ahh ok I was just making sure something was not wrong. I have lots of space on C so I guess that will be ok . D will be left as is lol. Thanks
