Recently when I was downloading files have stopped asking wether I want to open or save files. Now it just saves them and sends them to temp folder which is corrupt.

How can I change this back  I've checked through all the options in IE. :(

Dansco--Is this happening with downloads of all file types, or just one file type?
For any file type other than .exe, open Windows Explorer|Tools|Options|File Types|scroll to a file type giving you the problem|highlight|Advanced. Is the box "Confirm Open after Download" checked? If not, check it|Apply|OK.
    For .exe file type, see
    http://www.computing.net/windowsxp/wwwboard/forum/106171.html
especially Response #2 (which has two possible fixes).

When you say the Temp folder is corrupt, do you mean the downloaded file is corrupt? Are you getting any error messages?
And if all this has only started recently, perhaps a System Restore to a date before the problems?
