Downloading e-mails contiguously

    E-mails normally appear consecutively when downloading. Since in my case about 95 or so of the 100 daily e-mails is spam mail it is short work to highlight the last e-mail, quickly scan down for pertinent messages then highlight the first e-mail, press Shift + Enter and they are all deleted. However recently when downloading, new e-mails have taken to dispersing themselves randomly amongst my existing e-mails and thus take much longer to delete. My anti-virus reports "˜no virus' and I cannot find an option to make them download contiguously. Any ideas how I can overcome this irritation?

    In case it is pertinent I use IE6.

    Clicking right above the list of emails on the 'received' will arrange them to the order they are recieved.
