I need to download and copy to a CD all Windows XP updates from SP2 to present to load on another computer. What is the easiest way to do this? The other computer does not have broadband connectivity so I have to do it this way.

I always download the updates to my local hard disk and burn to CD for future use in situations like yours. My list is current for my system which is almost as it was when first installed (no updated WMP and so on). The list is formated YYMMDD (date) - XXXXXX (KB-number without "KB "). Go to Microsoft Update Catalog and make sure you get them for the correct operating system version.

    For Windows XP SP2:
    050503-893803 (#1 Windows Installer)
040924-885884 (if Office XP is installed)
    041015-887472

Windows XP SP2 comes with an outdated version of Flash Player. To avoid downloading and installing meaningless updates, go to How to remove the Macromedia Flash Player ActiveX control, download the utility and remove the "original" version. If you need it, go to Adobe and get the most recent version.

    By the way,

Don't let the date confuse you. The date referred to is according to the Properties > Digital Signature for the Swedish version of the file. Other language versions may/will have other dates.

"050503-893803 (#1 Windows Installer)" is out of sequence and should be installed first. After a reboot, the rest in order of date. Rebooting after each update that prompts for reboot is not necessary but one single reboot after all have been installed is sufficient. (I don't think it is necessary to install in any specific order but I do it in order of date, with a single reboot and have never had a problem.)
