When I download a software program, select Save, unable to find its location or in File Explorer Downloads. How can I solve this please.

    Living dangerous with IE.
    1. Open Internet Explorer, select the Tools button, and then select View downloads.
    2. In the View Downloads dialog box, select Options in the lower-left.
    3. Choose a different default download location by selecting Browse and then selecting OK when you're done.

Thank you for details appreciated. Now using Microsoft Edge more regularly, am I correct in thinking, that above applies too.

Edge is as almost as bad as IE. MS is not really supporting IE any more and is fixing to do away with Edge.

Steps to check downloads in Microsoft Edge: Step 1: Click the Start button on desktop, and select Microsoft Edge in the menu. Step 2: Tap the Hub icon on the top right, and hit the down arrow in the options. After these two procedures, you can view your current and past downloads in the list.

Is the "HUB" you state MrBill the 3 dots in the Upper Right corner or the screen?

This opens the Menu > Downloads > Change where you SAVE the Download.
This is where you choose to SAVE your Download to the likes of DESKTOP.

Bobby, MrBill has shown you where your current download is - but if you want to SOLVE where Downloads should be Saved to - include my section in your options.
As I read your Thread, you want to be able to find your Downloads easily after they have been Saved.

RL, I do want placed on the Desktop an Icon named Downloads, allowing me to open Icon, selecting current saved Software download and able to install this item. Up till yesterday, any downloads were automatically saved in the Desktop Icon marked Downloads. I have no idea as to what has caused this and to why I can't trace any specific saved software anywhere in computer. Download was to C:\Users\bobst\Desktop\*Downloads (or if *Documents preferred). This appears not work any longer. In Edge top right click ---- and follow instructions.

Bobby, If you Open > File Explorer > Under This PC (on left of screen) RIGHT click on DOWNLOADS.
This should open the Menu where > Send to > Desktop > will install a shortcut icon as Downloads.
Clicking on the shortcut will open your Downloads Library where you should be able to locate the Saved Downloads.

RL, Up to now, the above steps where and still are used. Previously, clicking the download icon on Desktop, opened showing the download software and could be opened, this step is what's not happening - it just shows "empty".

I have just repeated the operation I outlined in my (Post #9) and it opens with all my downloads shown.
I cannot explain why it doesn't work for you.

Why don't you just choose to open them?

It is just that I prefer to open and install later, making sure that I really want the program. Further a saved copy is useful, if you want to reinstall at a later time without having to go back to the Net. Why is the Save available? other than to what I have just said.
