    Ok

The PC I'm trying to remove it on doesn't boot properly into 98. Symantec doesn't have a removal TOOL for it. I don't want to muck around in the registry like it says, to get rid of it . If you've read the MS page it specifically says this "Important This tool requires you to restart your computer to finish the detection and removal process. To use this tool, you must be running Windows XP or Windows 2000." and on the download for the removal tool says this "This tool will NOT:

Detect or remove any viruses or Trojans other than W32.Berbew, variants A-H (one of the names for the Download.Ject payload)

Detect or remove future variants of Berbew

Run on any version of Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, or Windows NT 4.0. "

That's why I was being specific about it being a 98 removal tool.
Now, is there such a thing out there?

OK - I don't have time to read every word in the URl's - we are all volunteers you know - so keep your hat on.

If you took the trouble to read the Symantec article you would have noted that they state "At this time, there is no removal required for the Trojan itself, as it runs from a Web site "

However if you read this you will see that the MS workaround disables the ADODB.Stream object in IE.

You can do this by reading How to disable the ADODB.Stream object from Internet Explorer from MS and following the W9x link to here

BTW - I would sort out the booting problem first which is unlikely to be caused by download.ject - according to Symantec
