I reinstalled Thunderbird and used a Mozilla backup porgram, however it did not save my mail.

When i opened Thunderbird, it downloaded my unread items. Is there anyway to force it to download the entire mail box, both read and unread mail?

I tried setting all mail to unread in the online Yahoo and Tiscali mailbox to see whether Thunderbird would download it, but it doesn't :(

If I understand your question, and I doubt that I do, the only way to download the contents of an Inbox is to have them kept on line, and you will have to use to have set up, once again, your account. Ideally, in a different profile.
I can't see any setting which shows only unread mail, except if in a thread.
With POP mail once downloaded, mail is downloaded, and read mail is still there.
I don't know a thing about Yahoo and Tiscali, if not used as POP accounts.
