Hi cbumpkin. Yes you can download Windows 10 using this link, Download Windows 10.

As for using a bootable Windows 10 USB flash drive, you will need at least a 4 GB drive for the 32-bit version of Windows 10 or an 8 GB drive for the 64-bit version.

Correct me if I'm wrong please
But do you not have to install the upgrade before July 29, 2016 to have your computer registered with Microsoft
Afterwards you can remove it within the 30 days and/or download to USB for eg... for Clean Install in the future

    Hi Evan:
Is Indmusic saying I have to download Win 10 to the HDD and then copy to USB flash drive? I do not have a Product Key for Win 7. My machine was given to me as a gift with Win 7 already installed. I did not get an installation disk or any paperwork, just the machine with the product Key removed. The person who gave me the machine is In charge of computer maintainance at a large school system. with many computers. They have a revolving scheduled replacement program to get new machines and just junk the old ones. He took one of the old machines, checked and refurbished it and gave it to me. How can I get a product number? Thank for the info.

Unless you can get that Product key from your mate - I think you are in dire straits. There would be no guarantee an upgrade to W10 would install OK.
I would ensure ALL updates are installed first.
NO 3rd party AV's are installed. ALL hardware and Software is approved and working trouble-free. Only 1 active HDD is connected and no peripherals connected. Standard keyboard and mouse are used and keep your fingers crossed. Neil.

Well if you don't know what your Windows 7 product key is then you can use the Magic Jelly Bean Key Finder to find your product key so you can write it down and you will have it available.

Piriform's free Speccy will show the product key (listed as Serial Number under Operating System), as will Belarc Advisor.

Jim. Thanks for the response I could not find the # in Speccy OS or any other place in Speccy. I Downloaded Belarc Adviser and found a # that could possibly be right. It matches another # I had s it must t be right.

I'm glad you were able to find it using Belarc Advisor. For future reference, my screenshot shows where to find it using Speccy.
