dos anyone know how to get doskey working in Windows 2000 or Windows XP? I do lots of work from a simple command prompt and was really hooked on it in DOS and NT. I've been through the help files, performed a doskey /reinstall at the command prompt and still I get nothing. Any suggestions?

Also, I have tried this from multiple machines both server and pro workstations and no luck at all. I am hopefully missing something very simple and will feel stupid once this is resolved.

I've also noted that now the F3 key isn't funcional anymre either.

UPDATE: Ok, what I have found is:
I have always gotten to a command line window by going to start/run and then entering in command

doskey will not work that way

    If I go start/run cmd
    doskey works great

And, if I just go to the Icon for the command prompt under start/programs/accessories, doskey works great too.

Wonder why it won't work if you get to the command prompt by typing command?

    Thanks

cmd runs cmd.exe which is the proper one on NT systems.

command runs command.com which is a left-over from earlier systems and apparently isn't fully supported. Not even real sure why it is on NT4/2K/XP systems at this point.
