    Hello all

I am trying to STOP a DOS box closing automatically on my Win2k machine. (because I keep missing the error message)

Back in Win9x you could specify in a checkbox if it should close automatically, it seems now that thats built in in Win2k. I already know that cmd.exe /k will leave it open, but I would like to make that a permanent setting.

Is there a registry entry or some other way I can do this ??

    Many thanks in advance.

Not positive but I think adding the /k switch to the ComSpec Environment Variable might do the trick for you. Control Panel~system~advanced

    Thanks Newt

I have already tried that and had no luck. I am now browsing the registry as I am convinced its there somewhere.

Anybody with anything other than /k ??

/k works well for instances of running cmd, but I am looking for a permanent fix.

No other ideas but a thought. With 98 you were using command.exe which is absolutely NOT the same as the cmd.exe you have with 2K.

If there is some way to force the things you are interested in to run command.exe your 98 tricks should still work. The app isn't nearly as smart but it is on your box and does work pretty much the way it works on 9X.
