    I am running xp home.

When my wife signs on and changes/deletes items from her desktop, it changes mine.

Many times the icon will not be on my desktop.

    Any suggestion????????

We are both "administrators ", does that matter???

    Thanks in advance.

More than likely the items she deletes are in the all users folder. Shortcuts in the desktop folder that's in the all users folder appear on everybody's desktop. Likewise, if one user deletes from there destop it'll be deleted from everybodies desktop. You'll have to re-create them manually in the desktop folder that's in your user folder in windows explorer or just create a new shortcut on your desktop for it.

    c:\documents and settings>your user name>desktop

Some programs will give you the choice of installing them for all users or not. If you choose the all users option the shortcuts for the desktop will be put in the all users desktop and start menu folders. If you choose not to install it for all users the shortcuts will be placed in the user's folder who's doing the installation. The program will still work for all users but they won't have any shortcuts to it put on their desktop or in the start menu. You'd have to either create your own shortcuts for it or run it by double clicking on it's executable file in windows explorer.

Well that makes sense, and explains why some programs show up in various locations.

I will definately check it out.

    Thanks a bunch.
