Can I set up my laptop to allow me to logon to my NT network domain at work, but log onto a home workgroup at home?

It seems the computer name is directly associated with either a domain or a workgroup, but no option exists which allows you to easily switch between the two.

Can a computer have alternate names?

If you get a logon box when you boot up, you should have the option. Varies depending on the OS you use but available with 9x and up.

Your problem is more likely to be making it use the home IP address vs. the work one. Again, there are solutions but you need to say more about your home setup, OS, etc.
