We have a pure Windows 2000 Domain, with AD and all users have roaming profiles, although they typically log into their own machines and rarely use others.

I have set each user as a Power user on their regular machine.

I have just created an html intranet page that uses an application called "Intralaunch ", which loads a .CAB file at the page's first use to enable locally installed applications to be launched from html links.

The .CAB file contains several .dll files which are relevant to Internet Explorer. The page and the .CAB file are both stored on a central server and are accessed by UNC paths, not mapped drives.

Testing on my own machine while logged on as Domain Admin works perfectly and loads quickly. Testing it on another user's machine has found a problem. The page loads very slowly and the applications do not launch. I changed the user to local admin and ran the page again, this time it worked perfectly. When I changed the user back to Power user, the page continued to work perfectly.

I realise this is a permissions issue, but can someone point me in the right direction to settings in a domain-wide policy to allow users to install the files to their machines without me going round everyone to log them in as admin, then changing back to power user.

Sorry for the long explanation, I hope it all makes sense.

    Thanks

What you may want to add is a script that performs a runas option. Have it so that it executes the .cab file installer as an administrator. There are ways to protect the password as well. Search google for ideas.

Thanks for that, I just needed pointing in the right direction. I will give your suggestion a go.

I have a script somewhere that I wrote a while ago that uses runas for uninstalling and re-installing something at logon. Perhaps I will be able to alter it to fit.

The .CAB file is called from html, so I don't know how well it will work.

    Thanks again
