I have an issue where previous administrator installed printers with an acocunt that is local on the print server. the server is apart of a domain. the computers are NOT added to the domain. Using this account is not cool for various other reasons one is it was used for other things and it leads to many security issues.

When you go on any of these computers and try to UNC (\\server_name\)to the print server it will say access denied account locked (for I rotated the password on the account).

What needs to happen is change the account that the system defaults to when accessing this domain resource. I have searched and looked but unable to find how to change it.

Let me see if i understand: You have a user account setup on a domain. This user account was used to access a server resource. Have you tried seeing if the account in the AD has been locked out. Have you tried change the password on the account and then changing the password on the user account on the non domain PC. My guess is that it is using the non domain PC credentials to access the network. Make sure the non domain user credentials match with the domain user account you setup. This sometimes can be problematic even if they do match up.

The account is a local account on a sever. The server is apart of the domain.
I found the solution to this issue. start > control panel > user accounts > advanced > managed passwords

I would cut and paste picture
