It's a little difficult to explain what's going on in the topic so stick with me a bit.

I've installed windows 2000 and it doesn't appear to be saving it's settings correctly. All files and things of that sort save. What I'm refering to is thing like the start menu when you go to program files and there's that little down arrow which hides programs you haven't used in a while. I can use those things but it still leaves them in the light grey area where unused programs are even though I use them.

It does this for other things too such as copy & paste in MS Word 2000. If I copy something from another program and try to paste it in Word it say "installing Microsoft Word component ". Well, it installs it every time.

Is there a setting or something of this sort that will make these things save because I can't think of anything to fix this other than fdisk and reinstall W2K. I've tried disabling anti-virus thinking that for some odd reason that is causing it but no luck. Any ideas?

Was it a clean install or an upgrade and if upgrade, from what OS?

What service pack are you running?
