Does AVG 6.o Free support Outlook Express 6.0? If not do I need to "downgrade" to 5.5 and use the plugin?

The link that Welshjim provided would work, however AVG free, when you click on the Email Scanner, you will not get what the page is referring to.
I use AVG and OE, and it really doesn't scan incoming or outgoing email in OE at all, not at least as I can tell. Those little messages about "cerified Virus free" are not showing up, in or out.
I can tell you that attachments, when accessed such as you trying to run them are scanned, just like any other file. A ZIP file would require right clicking on it, and selecting 'Scan with AVG' to scan the contents. If you were to open the ZIP file with Winzip, and try to run the program without unzipping it, AVG will scan the file before it is allowed to run.
So in affect, AVG free would still protect you, it works on access at all times.

markp62 - What about problem HTML code that is a part of the email body rather than in an infected attachment? Open (or preview) mail and get infected.

I'm not currently on my home puter running the free AVG. But in the control panel of AVG, there is a box to check for "plug in to OE ". The folks who receive mail from me, get the "certified virus free ", and lately with all the viruses, clicking on one the virus was detected. You won't get any type of "scanning outgoing mail" window like norton, but it is scanned.

Good point, Newt! I thought something was slipping my mind on that post. VBS scripting can get rather devious.
I prevent this by going into Tools\Option in OE, click on Security tab, and select the option for OE to run in the Restricted Zone. Then go into Internet Options, go into the Security tab, highlighted the Restricted Icon, click on Customize, and set to Disable everything there, if Disable for an option is not there, then High, password to Prompt.
None of the email I receive has the 'certified' message, and I do have the OE plugin enabled.
