Not sure what it is, but why not try a few things before to help decide?
    Do the steps here.

Go to the above link, and get the Registry Search Tool and List Installed Programs.
Do a registry search with 'oobeFlagNetscape0' and post the results here. Use the list installed, and see if anything else 'hidden' shows up. You might want to post a HijackThis log.

By the way, according to the only thing Google could find, this is something new as the posting of it was 3/24/2005. Apparently someone else is curious about it, and inquired someone who does business with Gateway about it.

It appears not from them, anyway.

I have the same software in the add/remove window and did some tinkering.
If you have a newer Gateway or E-machine this is the software (lets see if I can remember this ) that they use to install or setup thier software on the line and should have been removed. The gateway techs will have no clue. I spoke to a tech at New Boundary Technologies (there is a folder in your shared directory in windows) that told me all of this as well as the contact info on the person at Gateway to inform thier techs on what this is. I also asked if this was necessary to keep. It's running prismxl.sys in the background. I just sent this out so if I get word I will repost.

I finally talked to someone at gateway who seemed to know what I was talking about. They told me to go ahead and remove the program. I did and everything is still running ok. My computer is a new gateway.
