    Hi,

I have the zip file containing Volume ID Version 2.01 But no instructions, I can not find any instructions anywhere on the net.

Is it a DOS based command line type of program?

Do I unzip and load onto a floppy, or can it be done inside of Windows?

I am not a computer expert by any means, but I am a long time user that understands the machine somewhat.

    Regards

    I've never heard of it..

Why do you have and what are your intentions with it?

You can unzipp in anywhere and maybe find some instructions within the zipped file.

It's an MS applet previously from Sysinternals .....

    VolumeID v2.0

    desertbluesman

Unzip to the root of C:\

Start > Run > cmd > Enter to open a command window

Change to the root directory - cd\

At the prompt type volumeid <driveletter:> xxxx-xxxx (see URL above)

Never used it - advice given 'as is' :)

It changes the Volume Serial no .....

Volume in drive E is system
    Volume Serial Number is BC09-8AE4
